Thibaut wall coverings and fabrics were used for the walls and windows, and the elegant shagreen-covered vanities are accented with gleaming fixtures by P.E. Videla-Juniel and project manager Cheryl Hardy also installed a striking shower clad in herringbone stone tile. Designer Lara Hovanessian packed plenty of bold design elements into the powder room and adjacent lounge. A moody House of Hackney floral wall covering lines the dressing area, which leads to a powder room accented with a Kelly Wearstler’s Graffito II from Walnut Wallpaper. A black-and-white triangular mosaic tile floor by Artistic Tile from Mission Tile West puts a contemporary twist on the classic checkered pattern.

If you think ArtCenter is a good match, first take a moment to review how to apply for both undergraduate and graduate majors. With Eli Russell Linnetz, the designer consistently refines his appetite for portraying life’s moments and his undying love for California. This past January, the designer’s eponymous label, ERL, looked at high school memories for FW24 – defined by sports-inspired attire, layered looks and alluring fabrications that all carried the state’s easygoing persona. Now the designer is digging deeper into the Golden State with his new “Made in California” collection.
Graduate Enrollment by Major
In 2018, ArtCenter appointed its first ever chief diversity officer, a role which lead to the establishment of a new Center for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Art and Design at the College. In 2022, ArtCenter named Karen Hofmann, its then provost and a former chair of the Product Design program, as president and chief executive officer. An alumna of the College, Hofmann is ArtCenter’s sixth president and first woman to hold that position. Following major tenants of its strategic plan, the College continues to explore means of diversifying the voices of its community and expanding its reach to historically underserved populations. ArtCenter’s co-founder and first president was advertising man Edward “Tink” Adams.
Well, they remain under investigation by the committee. But also, as the winter wears on, all the same intense protests just continue unabated. This is a university that has both one of the largest Jewish student populations of any of its peers. But it also has a large Arab and Muslim student population, a big Middle Eastern studies program. Founded in 2021, the Nielsen Center for the Liberal Arts at Eckerd College hosts sustained, small-group conversations among faculty who are early in their career teaching at small liberal arts colleges. Workshops seek to support instructors who are committed to exploring the vocation of liberal arts teaching and learning, develop teaching effectiveness of faculty at small liberal arts colleges and strengthen liberal arts education in small American colleges.

The ArtCenter School, as it was then called, proved both visionary and effective. Even during the Great Depression, our alumni found employment. And now these schools only have a week or two left of classes. But we don’t know when these standoffs are going to end. We don’t know if students are going to leave campus for the summer.

And that’s of a Middle Eastern studies professor named Joseph Massad. He wrote an essay not long after Hamas invaded Israel and killed 1,200 people, according to the Israeli government, where he described that attack with adjectives like awesome. Now, he said they’ve been misinterpreted, but a lot of people have taken offense to those comments. For example, just four days after the harrowing October 7 attack, a former Columbia undergraduate beat an Israeli student with a stick.
Campus Life
And so instead of going to celebrate her successful appearance before Congress, Shafik walks out of the hearing room and gets in a black SUV to go right back to that war room, where she’s immediately confronted with a major dilemma. It basically boils down to this, she had just gone before Congress and told them, I’m going to get tough on these protests. So either she gets tough and risks inflaming tension on campus or she holds back and does nothing and her words before Congress immediately look hollow. They brought in outside consultants, crisis communicators, experts on anti-Semitism.
L.A. Create Here
Studios, workspaces, editing bays, photo and computer labs provide our students with a host of creative tools, including 3D rapid modeling, CNC machines, modeling facilities and rapid prototyping technologies. In 2004, ArtCenter established its South Campus in downtown Pasadena to accommodate the College’s overall growth. When you're ready, our Admissions counselors—practicing artists themselves—are here to guide you through the application process, discuss our portfolio requirements, answer your questions and serve as your Admissions mentors.
And there have been a variety of moves that I believe have distanced the student body, the faculty, from the University and its administration, specifically the suspension of Columbia’s chapters of Students for Justice in Palestine and Jewish Voice for Peace. And that became a huge moment in what was characterized as suppression of pro-Palestinian activism on campus, effectively rendering those groups, quote, unquote, unauthorized. So these students in real-time are beginning to test some of the things that Columbia’s president has just said before Congress. She talks about the number of students that have been suspended, but also the number of faculty that she’s had removed from the classroom that are being investigated for comments that either violate some of Columbia’s rules or make students uncomfortable.
And from what she could tell, the crackdown ordered by President Shafik did not quell much of anything. It seemed, instead, to really intensify everything on campus. I think that this will be remembered as a moment in which the fractures were laid bare. Really, we got to see some of the disunity of the community in ways that I have never really seen it before.
The weekend before the hearing, she actually travels down to Washington to hole up in a war room, where she starts preparing her testimony with mock questioners and testy exchanges to prep her for this. The designer referenced the house’s original name, El Robles—Spanish for oak tree—with a tree-filled landscape mural by Arpy Dabbaghian.
